The short version
This site provides free business valuation calculators as an educational resource. The valuations are estimates intended to help you have better-informed conversations with valuation professionals, advisors, and counterparties — they are not professional valuation reports and should not be used as the sole basis for any transaction, legal proceeding, tax filing, or financial decision. By using this site, you accept these Terms.
If you need a defensible valuation for a real-world transaction, hire a credentialed valuation specialist (CVA, ASA, ABV, or equivalent).
Who provides this site
This site is provided by Samuel Y.C. Chan, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom, operating under the trading name BusinessValuationCalculator.org. References to “we,” “our,” or “the site” mean the operator. References to “you” or “your” mean any person who accesses or uses the site.

Acceptance of these Terms
By accessing or using BusinessValuationCalculator.org, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
These Terms govern your use of the site as it currently exists. If we add new features (paid services, user accounts, AI-enhanced reporting, professional listings, or any other feature beyond the free public calculators), additional terms specific to those features may apply.
What the site does and does not do
The site provides:Free, browser-based calculators that produce business valuation estimates using tiered industry multiples and methodology drawn from standard M&A valuation practice. The methodology, data sources, and limitations are disclosed on each result page.
The site does not provide: Formal valuation reports, fairness opinions, expert witness opinions, professional advice, tax advice, legal advice, financial advice, or any service that an Internationally Certified Valuation Specialist (ICVS), Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA), Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV), or equivalent credentialed professional would deliver in a paid engagement.
A valuation produced by this site is a preliminary estimate. It does not constitute a professional valuation under any standard recognised by the IACVS, NACVA, ASA, AICPA, or any other valuation body.
Appropriate use
Use the calculator outputs for purposes such as:
- Getting a defensible starting figure before an advisory conversation
- Understanding how methodology inputs interact
- Stress-testing an offer you've received
- Comparing your business against published industry multiples
- Educational and learning purposes
Do not use calculator outputs as the sole or primary basis for:
- A signed sale or purchase agreement
- A divorce, partnership dissolution, or estate settlement
- A tax filing or HMRC submission
- A buy-sell agreement or shareholder agreement
- A litigation matter or expert witness submission
- A bank loan application or investor pitch where a formal valuation is required
- Any decision where you would otherwise hire a credentialed professional
For these uses, engage a credentialed valuation specialist who can defend the number in writing.
Accuracy and limitations
We make reasonable efforts to keep methodology current and data sources accurate, but we provide the site on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We make no representation or warranty that:
- Any specific valuation output is accurate for your specific business
- Industry multiples reflect the most current transaction data
- The site will be available without interruption
- The site will be free from errors or defects
Business valuation depends on factors that no calculator can fully capture — customer concentration, founder dependency, contractual obligations, intangible asset quality, regulatory risk, and the specific dynamics of any potential buyer. Calculator outputs are estimates only.
Intellectual property
All content on this site — including the calculator interfaces, methodology explanations, written copy, design, and code — is the intellectual property of the operator unless explicitly attributed to a third-party source. You may:
- Use the calculators for personal, professional, or educational purposes
- Reference the methodology in your own work with attribution to the site
- Share links to the site
You may not:
- Copy, scrape, or republish the site's content as your own
- Reverse-engineer the calculation logic for the purpose of building a competing product
- Remove or alter copyright notices or attribution
- Use the site's content to train machine learning models without express written permission
No advisor-client relationship
Using this site does not create a valuation advisor-client relationship between you and the operator. The operator is a credentialed valuation professional, but interactions with this site are not professional engagements. If you wish to engage the operator for paid valuation work, contact details are provided separately and any engagement will be governed by a separate written agreement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of this site or reliance on its outputs — including but not limited to lost profits, lost transactions, mispriced deals, regulatory penalties, or third-party claims. Your sole remedy if you are dissatisfied with the site is to stop using it.
This limitation applies regardless of whether liability is asserted on the basis of contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other legal theory. Some jurisdictions do not permit the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability, in which case the limitations above apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
External links and third-party content
This site links to third-party resources for transparency and attribution — including data providers (GF Data, Capstone Partners, Pepperdine PCM, DealStats), professional bodies (IACVS, AM&AA, EPI), and the operator's professional profiles. We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the site evolves. Material changes — particularly relating to paid features, user accounts, or any change to the data we collect — will be flagged at the top of the site for at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from your use of the site is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction grants you a right to bring proceedings locally.
