The short version
BusinessValuationCalculator.org does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data about visitors to this site. The calculators run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type — your business name, your revenue figures, your earnings — leaves your device. There are no cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no email capture.
If that's all you needed to know, you can stop reading here.
Who operates this site
This site is operated by Samuel Y.C. Chan as a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018), Samuel is the data controller — though, as set out below, this site does not currently process any personal data.
You can reach the operator at: [CONTACT EMAIL]
What data we collect
None. The calculators on this site run client-side, meaning every calculation happens inside your browser using JavaScript that has already been delivered to your device. The figures you enter — revenue, EBITDA, owner compensation, industry selection, and so on — are not transmitted to any server, database, or third party.
We do not use:
- Cookies (functional, performance, or marketing)
- Web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Plausible, Fathom, or any other)
- Tracking pixels or advertising tags
- Email capture forms
- User accounts or login systems
- Server-side logging of calculator inputs
What our hosting provider sees
This site is hosted on Netlify. When your browser loads any page, Netlify's servers receive the standard technical information that any web request generates: your IP address, the pages requested, your browser's user-agent string, and the time of the request. Netlify uses this information for service delivery, security, and abuse prevention. We do not have access to any individual-visitor information held by Netlify and do not use Netlify Analytics.
For full information on how Netlify handles this technical data, see Netlify's privacy policy: https://www.netlify.com/privacy/
What you should know about external links
Some pages on this site link to third-party websites — for example, the LinkedIn profile of the site's operator, or industry data sources cited in the methodology (GF Data, Capstone Partners, Pepperdine PCM, DealStats). When you click an external link, you leave this site and are subject to the privacy practices of the destination. We have no control over those practices.
Your rights under UK GDPR
Even though this site does not process your personal data, UK data protection law gives you specific rights regarding any personal data held about you by any organisation. These include the right of access, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, and the right to object. If you believe a UK organisation has mishandled your personal data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at https://ico.org.uk.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we have no reason to believe children use it given the subject matter (business valuation for SMB owners and advisors). Because we collect no data, we have no way to identify a child user — but if you are under 13, please do not attempt to use the site without a parent or guardian present.
Changes to this policy
This site is in active development. Features that will materially change this Privacy Policy include:
- Email capture for tool announcements or report delivery
- AI-enhanced analysis that transmits calculator inputs to a third-party AI provider for processing
- Web analytics to measure site usage
- User accounts for saving valuations or accessing premium features
When any of these features launch, this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect what data is collected, why, who processes it, how long it is retained, and how you can exercise your rights. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change accordingly. Material changes will be flagged in a notice at the top of the site for at least 30 days.
